NFL Notes

Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady :: Getty Images

The Patriots took over the AFC lead with a decisive 43-21 victory over the Broncos, thanks in part to this one-handed Rob Gronkowski catch. Tom Brady celebrated with a Facebook graphic while Peyton "I Stunk" Manning took the blame for the loss ... Pittsburgh also put up 43 points in defeating rival Baltimore. Terrell Suggs took out his frustration with this cheap shot on LeGarrette Blount while Ben Roethlisberger made funny faces ... Marshawn Lynch went full beast mode on this short touchdown run ... The Redskins had a rough day as their bus got into an accident on the way to the game, coach Jay Gruden feuded with ESPN and Robert Griffin III didn't come through in the clutch ... The Dolphins looked unbeatable in a 37-0 victory over San Diego. Their only mistake was nailing the referee with the postgame Gatorade shower ... In other news, Gerald McCoy made one of the best defensive plays of the season, Anthony Fasano made one of the luckiest catches of the season and Jerry Jones likes Tony Romo more than he does his own wife.

College Football Notes

As usual, I'm deferring college football news to the experts, so read Martin Rickman's Between the Hashes and Andy Staples' Punt, Pass and Pork for all the weekend action. My three favorite items from the weekend are these "Bruh" refs (what are the chances?), Maryland getting a 15-yard penalty for not shaking hands with Penn State before the game and Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart yelling at a male cheerleader after the game.

Best Moment of the Weekend

Take a minute to check out this story about Mount Saint Joseph freshman Lauren Hill, who has inoperable brain cancer, but persevered to play (and score) in a college basketball game. I smell a Sportsman of the Year candidate.

Lovely Lady of the Day

Kyra Santoro (right) dressed up as Zombie Girl for Halloween and that was enough for me to declare her LLOD (click here for full-size gallery).

NASCAR Brawl Notes

Tempers flared at the Texas 500 on Sunday as both Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick tried to beat up Brad Keselowski after the race. Harvick got the first shot with a push from behind and mayhem erupted. Gordon ended up with a busted lip and a few choice words for Keselowski. The other drivers seemed to love the action, at least judging from their Twitter feeds. This, of course, isn't the first NASCAR-related brawl.

Phil Simms :: AP

Phil Simms turned 60 today. The former Giants quarterback (pictured here during a 1987 practice) threw for 33,462 yards and 199 touchdowns during his 14-year career. Simms now serves as lead analyst for the NFL on CBS.

Jim Harbaugh and Bo Schembechler :: AP

Is 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh headed to Ann Arbor to take over the Wolverines football program? That seems to be the prevailing thought after Michigan AD Dave Brandon resigned, and San Francisco's continued struggles might help fuel the possibility. In this 1987 photo, then-Michigan coach Bo Schembechler yells at Harbaugh on the sidelines. Will Harbaugh soon be yelling at his own Michigan quarterback? Time will tell. For more classic sports photos, visit the SI Vault on Twitter.

Odds & Ends

We rounded up this year's best sports-related Halloween costumes ... Josh McRoberts did his best Hulk Hogan impression by tearing his uniform mid-game ... An English football team sponsored by PornHub was banned from its league ... Tony Romo bought his offensive lineman Louis Vuitton luggage ... Stephen Curry has really deep range ... Rosie Napravnik not only became the first female jockey to win the $2 million Breeders' Cup Distaff on Friday, but also did so while seven weeks pregnant ...Jadaveon Clowney was expected to win Rookie of the Year but now his own team is getting sick of him ... Chris Rock finally breathed some life into Saturday Night Live ... Amazon shared the most popular passages from famous books.

U Can't Touch This

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn probably wishes this ode to MC Hammer never saw the light of day. (H/T Reddit)
