English striker Wayne Rooney is closing in on the record for most international goals by an Englishman. Gary Lineker, currently second on that list, is starting to get a little nervous.

After Rooney netted two goals in Tuesday's win over Scotland, Lineker shared some wishful thinking on Twitter.

Rooney's brace moved his goal total to 46, two behind Lineker and three behind Bobby Charlton. Still, Lineker is more prolific than both Rooney and Charlton on a per game basis. His 48 goals came in only 80 games, while Charlton and Rooney each played over 100.
