Capitals' Karl Alzner wore sunglasses during Winter Classic

The NHL continued its Winter Classic series on New Year's Day with the Capitals hosting the Blackhawks at Nationals Park, and with a 1 p.m. ET start planned there was a lot of concern of how glare might affect the players. Karl Alzner decided to take the light out of the equation with a pair of sunglasses.

The NHL continued its Winter Classic series on New Year's Day with the Capitals hosting the Blackhawks at Nationals Park, and with a 1 p.m. ET start planned, there was a lot of concern of how glare might affect the players. 

Karl Alzner decided to take the light out of the equation with style by wearing a pair of sunglasses on the ice.

The defenseman told The Washington Post that the sunglasses came as part of a gift bag from the team's trainers and that they "did the trick" while he was out on the temporary rink.
