Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer taped an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday, talking about Cardale Jones returning to school and where it leaves the Buckeyes' quarterback situation heading into next year. Meyer also continued the time-honored tradition of OSU people refusing to say "Michigan."
The interview will air on Friday's show.
Meyer said he talked with Jones on Thursday morning, and that's when he found out Jones would be returning to school. When Letterman pressed him, however, on how the Buckeyes would settle the logjam at quarterback between Jones, Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett, Meyer was short on words.
"We're digging into some pretty serious stuff here," Meyer said.
Letterman also pretty slyly tried to get Meyer to say "Michigan" after Meyer referenced "the team up north." In an effort that would make Woody Hayes proud, Meyer didn't take the bait.
"That's our rival," he said. "Can't say the word."
