Minnesota linebacker calls himself the 'fish whisperer'

Minnesota linebacker Everett Williams was among a group of Golden Gophers linebackers who went ice fishing on Sunday with position coach Mike Sherels. The excursion went so well for Williams that he's taken to calling himself "the fish whisperer."

Conditions were just about right for ice fishing in Minnesota on Sunday: below-normal temperatures, with a recorded high of 9 degrees.

Ice fishing is a very popular pastime in the frozen northern regions of the country, particularly in the Midwest, where it’s hard to pass by a frozen lake or pond and not see it dotted with ice-fishing shanties — huts used by anglers to keep themselves protected from the wind, with many of them elaborately outfitted with heaters, refrigerators and other accouterments.
