Nationals catcher Jose Lobaton bought a gold cat figurine, known as a Maneki-neko, in San Francisco during the NLDS against the Giants last year and it quickly became a clubhouse hit.
The cat went nameless last October, but now Lobaton has christened it with the help of some fans on Twitter.
I am thinking "gatitude" MacCaty" Catoro" Gatoro" Gatioro" NatCaty" what do u think— Jose Lobaton (@JLobaton21) March 3, 2015
Gatitotude or gatitude?— Jose Lobaton (@JLobaton21) March 5, 2015
The Washington Post reports that several fans were worried that "Gatitude" to closely resembled the "Gattitude" slogan of Evan Gattis, the former catcher for their NL East rivals the Atlanta Braves, giving Gatitotude the edge.
Hopefully the cat and gnome Jayson Werth get along.
