Although they have little-to-no shot at the playoffs, the Denver Nuggets decided to rest their starters against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, leading to an 11-point loss.
Some questioned if the move was intended to increase the team's chances at a high lottery pick, but interim coach Melvin Hunt said it has to do with the team's recent history of injuries, from Danilo Gallinari to owner Stan Kroenke's dog, according to The Denver Post.
[W]e're in a very unique situation here, having come off what we did last year with so many injuries. We had players with ACL injuries; our owner's dog had an ACL injury. We had a little bit of everything going on. We have to be very, very careful. We have to be really wise, given the situation that we are in."
