A homeless Edmonton man got some help from the NHL's Nail Yakupov recently when the Oilers forward treated the man to dinner and got him a hotel room for the night.

Sportsnet reports that Yukupov was driving through Edmonton when a man approached his car to ask for money, and the 21-year-old went the extra mile, taking him to a nearby hotel, where he gave him money for a room and $100 to get dinner.

The 2012 No. 1 draft pick told reporters that he knows a small effort can mean a lot to those who are down on their luck.
