Fast & Furious 7 is still raking in the box office receipts in theaters but star Vin Diesel knows the franchise's fans are never satisfied, so the star announced on Thursday at Cinema Con that the eighth installment will be hitting theaters on April 14, 2017.
The film does not yet have a director, but the franchise star has said that the latest edition of the car- and explosion-filled action films will be set in New York City, during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel before the seventh film hit theaters.
In just 20 days in theaters, Furious 7 has made over $1.1 billion in worldwide gross with $300,534,085 of that coming from the United States, according to The-Numbers.com. The site also reports the Fast & Furious movies have combined to make over $3 billion.
The franchise was dealt a blow with the death of star Paul Walker during production of Furious 7, forcing the movie to use his brothers as stand-ins as well as CGI recreations of Walker's Brian O'Conner character.
