Fordham pitcher Greg Weissert pitched a complete game and struck out a career-high 12 batters in a 7–2 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday. Two plays he made as a fielder, however, were the clear highlights.
Weissert had a perfect game until the top of the seventh, making one bare-handed catch on a come-backer in the sixth to keep the bid alive.
In the ninth, Weissert did the same thing, casually hauling in a liner straight up the middle with his pitching hand. That's a risky move just once—doing it twice? Pure instinct or not, that's impressive.
Wessert allowed one earned run over his nine innings, striking out 12 and walking one.
