The Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies made innovative use of social media during Friday night's rain delay.

With the start of their game postponed, the Dodgers' social media team initiated a creative move with their opponents: a game of tic-tac-toe. 

Los Angeles opened with a risky, yet sophisticated corner play. The Rockies took the challenge and claimed the middle. 

The game unfolded over a series of tweets, and ran down to the wire, remaining tight as both teams' expert Twitter personnel took the competition to heart.

You can watch the sequence of tweets below. And, unsuprisingly, the game ended in a deadlock.

The Dodgers won 2-1; the game ended in six innings due to rain.
