Los Angeles Angels outfielder Matt Joyce was scratched from Monday's game after he showed up in the middle of batting practice ahead of the 1 p.m. ET start.
On Tuesday, he revealed the reason he arrived late at Rogers Centre: He thought the game was at night.
The Angels typically play at night on Mondays, but it was Victoria Day in Canada so the game against the Blue Jays was a midday start. Joyce didn't realize it until late, and manager Mike Scioscia decided to keep him out of the lineup.
Joyce told reporters that it would "definitely" never happen again, and on Wednesday he tweeted out an apology and a plan to make sure he keeps his promise.
