Rockets Stay Alive

james-harden-getty.jpg

James Harden scored 45 points (and his best shot didn't even count) as the Rockets avoided a sweep in a 128-115 victory over the Warriors. It was a physical game as Andrew Bogut received a friendly elbow from Dwight Howard and Stephen Curry nearly decapitated himself trying to block a Trevor Ariza shot. Though the real NBA highlight of the weekend was this acrobatic Chihuahua.

Keep Emilio Estevez Away From Twitter

I don't blame Emilio Estevez for cheering on the Ducks. After all, it was his movie (The Mighty Ducks) that inspired the team name and helped the team forge an identity in their early years. But someone tell Estevez to wait until the game is over before celebrating. With Anaheim leading by two goals with roughly four minutes left to play Monday, the actor started tweeting out some trash talk to Chicago fans. Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews responded by scoring two goals in fewer than 100 seconds to tie the game. Anaheim would go on to win in overtime but that shouldn't diminish Estevez's role in the Ducks collapse. Also of note: The Mighty Ducks, back in 1992, predicted a Ducks-Blackhawks series.

Don't See This Everyday

Brewers outfielder Khris Davis homered in the bottom of the first of Monday's game against the Giants. San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy challenged whether Davis touched home plate at the end of his home run trot. So Bochy appealed the play, the umpires agreed with him and Davis was called out. Brewers manager Craig Counsell challenged the appeal and on replay it showed that Davis' heel did indeed touch the plate and the home run counted. Then in his next at-bat, Davis homered again (and emphatically stepped on home plate to avoid further controversy). Catch all that?

Lovely Lady of the Day

I haven't featured our pal Ashlyn Coray since October. There's just no excuse for this on my part and I apologize to all the readers out there. These pics should make up for lost time (click here for full-size gallery).
