Nationals P Doug Fister's wedding ring fell off on the mound

Nationals' Doug Fister looked to be debuting a very odd new strikeout celebration on the mound on Thursday, when he turned around and started picking through the dirt after punching out Evan Longoria to end the first inning.

Nationals' Doug Fister looked to be debuting a very odd new strikeout celebration on the mound on Thursday, when he turned around and started picking through the dirt after punching out Evan Longoria to end the first inning.

It turns out Fister was just looking for his wedding ring, which somehow slipped off his finger on the innings final delivery.

It did not take long for the Washington starter to recover the missing jewelry, saving his marriage while confusing viewers and teammates.

The Washington Post points out that Fister was just married in November of 2014, and that his wife had some ring trouble of her own since then, posting a photo of her finger turning purple due to her ring being too small.
