Sam Dekker returns from NBA draft to cut lawn for mom

Houston Rockets first-round pick Sam Dekker made the smart choice after the NBA draft: he returned home to cut the lawn for mom.

Sam Dekker has gone from cutting down nets to cutting grass.

That’s a good thing, though—after the Houston Rockets selected him in Thursday night’s NBA draft, Dekker returned to Sheboygan, Wis., to cut the lawn for his mother.

As Dekker clearly knows, you always keep mom happy. Always.

Good on Dekker for staying true to his family and continuing to chip in around the house while he still has some free time.

Dekker made two consecutive Final Fours with Wisconsin and came within minutes of this past season’s national championship before falling to Duke. The talented forward was the No. 18 pick in the draft, nine picks after the Charlotte Hornets drafted his former teammate, Frank Kaminsky.
