Tom Hanks honored by U.S. women's national team with mock-up team bio

Tom Hanks' fandom for the U.S. women's national team was honored with a mock-up roster bio on Twitter.

Tom Hanks' U.S. women's national team fandom is well-documented, and he showed his support for the team ahead of its semifinal match against Germany by posting a selfie on Monday while wearing the team's jersey. Naturally, U.S. Soccer responded to this gesture by creating a mock-up player bio for Hanks ahead of Tuesday night's semifinal.

The bio includes jokes related to some of the actor's most famous films. "When you put him in the game, you never know what you're going to get" and "he doesn't know when to stop his runs" refer to Hanks' Academy Award winning performance in Forrest Gump, for instance.

The player bio also says that Hanks "often talks to the ball" (Cast Away) and that he "has a history of problems in space" (Apollo 13).

Hanks' experience  "taking it to the Germans" likely refers to his role as Captain John H. Miller in Saving Private Ryan.
