Braves’ A.J. Pierzynski narrowly avoids Brewers’ sausage stampede

Braves’ A.J. Pierzynski has shown a lot of grit to make it through 18 seasons in Major League Baseball, but that run was almost cut short on Wednesday when the catcher wandered into the path of the Brewers’ Sausage Race.

In the middle of the sixth inning, the veteran meandered out of the dugout onto the field at the precise wrong time, and only some fancy footwork from himself and a charging bratwurst saved Pierzynski from an ugly scene.

Earlier this season, a pair of Cubs players narrowly dodged a similar run-in as the Reds mascots charged around the field at the Great American Ballpark.
