Serena Williams lost in the U.S. Open to Roberta Vinci in the semifinals on Friday. The Internet was quick to blame Drake.

You see, Williams and Drake have had a long-rumored relationship that has been something of a sideshow during Williams’s push for the calendar Grand Slam. A win over Vinci would have advanced Williams to the tournament finals, and a win there would’ve locked in the slam and given Williams her 22nd Grand Slam title, tying her for most in the professional era with Steffi Graf.

Alas, Vinci emerged a 2–6, 6–4, 6–4 winner. In the eyes (and Twitter fingers) of the Internet, Drake was to blame.
