Bill Walton has no idea his son’s car was stolen
If you haven’t heard about the theft of Warriors coach Luke Walton’s car, that’s OK—his father doesn’t even know.
While calling a game between UNLV and Chaminade at the Maui Invitational on ESPN2, the perennially entertaining Bill Walton was asked by play-by-play announcer Jon Sciambi if authorities had ever found his son’s car after it was reportedly stolen in Oakland.
A second or two of silence followed.
“What happened? What are you talking about?” Walton asked.
“I think something happened to his car, I believe,” Sciambi replied.
“To Luke’s car?" Walton said. “I have no idea. I didn’t even know he had a car.”
Walton at least was aware of the fact that Luke had led the Warriors to a 15–0 start in the absence of head coach Steve Kerr.
It doesn’t appear they’re having conversations nightly, but maybe that will change now.
Seriously, though, did they ever find Luke’s car?
