A New York Knicks fan tried stopping a flying basketball with his beer Tuesday night.

During the Knicks’ loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, an errant basketball was headed into the stands when one fan, not clear about this whole science thing, threw his beer in the air as to protect himself from the ball. Not only did he fail to stop the basketball, he splashed beer all over the stands. (Okay, to be fair, this may have been an instinctive reflex with the hand he happened to be holding his beer with. Video is still hilarious.)

The way this Knicks’ season has gone, that fan is going to want to hold on to his drink next time.
