Kobe Bryant signs shoes for fans after they guess his dog’s name

Kobe Bryant autographed a pair of his own shoes for fans after they guessed his dog’s name.

Kobe Bryant continues to hand out gifts during his own retirement tour.

Bryant’s latest act of kindness came in Denver, when he started signing dozens of autographs for fans after the game. In Oprah-esque fashion, Bryant also began giving away pairs of shoes. Two lucky fans received the shoes on Bryant’s feet—but only after they guessed the name of his dog.

“They wanted to know what the name of my pet dog was so I gave them a clue,” Bryant said, according to The Denver Post. “I said, ‘It’s in a (Harry) Potter film.’ So every time, they threw out like 15 names. The deal was if they got it, I’d give them my shoes. And they got it.”

Kobe honors Tony Allen for his tough defense with signed shoes

The name of Bryant’s dog is Crucio, which is one of the three unforgivable curses in the Harry Potter series. Of course Bryant would name his dog after a curse which “inflicts excruciating pain on the recipient of the curse,” according to the Harry Potter wiki.

Bryant—a Harry Potter superfan—could use a little magic at the end of his career. The Lakers are 12–50.
