Cespedes deems ball unplayable, opponent circles bases easily

Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes thought a ball hit to the wall was unplayable. The umpire disagreed.

It’s a good thing these games don’t matter.

During Thursday’s spring training matchup between the Mets and Astros, Houston prospect A.J. Reed hit a high flyball over Yoenis Cespedes’s head. The ball rolled under the fence and Cespedes decided it was stuck.

He threw up his hands to signal to the umpire that it was unplayable but the ump wasn’t buying it, allowing Reed to circle the bases unimpeded for an inside-the-park home run.

Just look at the ump’s expression. He’s not having any of it.

Can you hear the chorus of Mets fans saying Juan Lagares would have never made this mistake?
