Real Madrid fans sue club president over embarrassing cup elimination

Real Madrid was eliminated from the Copa Del Rey due to an embarrassing error, so two fans are suing the team’s president.

New England Patriots fans aren’t the only ones filing frivolous lawsuits.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, two Real Madrid fans are suing the club’s president because the team was thrown out of the Copa Del Rey, Spain’s domestic cup competition, for making a really dumb mistake.

Real Madrid was eliminated in the first round after an ineligible player, Denis Cheryshev, played in the opening game against third-tier club Cadiz. Now the fans are suing club president Florentino Perez for €500 because they say they have “had to endure being taunted in cafes and our place of work.”

Cheryshev makes more than €30,000 per week, so the club can probably just pay the fans what they want.
