A stretch of Elysian Park Avenue, a street leading to Dodger Stadium, was dedicated on Monday as Vin Scully Avenue.

The motion was introduced by Los Angeles council member Gil Cedillo back in January, and was approved unanimously.

“The mayor of Los Angeles has a great deal more important things to do than name a street after me,” Scully said in January. “And if he is considering that idea, better the street should be named after Walter or Peter O'Malley than myself.”
