Donald Trump asked a Pittsburgh crowd about Penn State coach Joe Paterno and whether they were "going to bring that back."
While it may sound like he may be unaware of Paterno's passing in 2012, a spokesman for Trump says that the presidential candidate was referring to the Paterno statue that was removed from the university's campus.
Watch Trump's comments below:
The statue was removed from outside of Beaver Stadium in the aftermath of the child-sex abuse scandal involving ex-Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
In 2014, two Penn State alumni received approval for a new $300,000 life-size bronze sculpture of Paterno in Happy Valley's downtown area.
