Purple shirt man says he did not cost the Hornets a win in Game 6

The purple-shirted Hornets fan who made headlines on Friday for his constant heckling of the Heat says he does not believe Charlotte lost on account of his antics.

The purple-shirted Hornets fan who made headlines on Friday for his constant heckling of the Heat says he does not believe Charlotte lost on account of his antics.

“No, I didn’t lose the game for them last night,” 43-year-old Michael Deason, ‘purple shirt man,’ told the Charlotte Observer. “Hell, did I win the game for them in Game 3 and 4? Because I was cheering a hell of a lot louder in Game 3 and 4.”

Deason was seen throughout the night getting in the face of Heat star Dwyane Wade.

While you probably weren’t ready to connect this incredibly vocal fan to a Hornets loss, consider this quote from rookie Josh Richardson, who hinted that Wade may have been riled up by the taunting.

“Sometimes, it’s better not to wake up a sleeping giant,” he told the Miami Herald after the game.

Will you see purple shirt man in the future? Probably not. He told the Observer that he will not be renewing his season tickets for a slew of reasons. And, he’s not planning on traveling to Miami for Game 7. If someone were to pay for his entire trip? “I might show up,” he says.
