Anyone who has ever looked up Kevin Durant’s official height has probably done a brief double take, as the lanky Thunder star is listed at 6'9" despite appearing to be closer to the seven-foot threshold.
The Wall Street Journal’s Chris Herring spoke with the former MVP about the discrepancy, and Durant admitted that he has a few different heights, depending on the situation.
“For me, when I’m talking to women, I’m 7 feet,” [Durant] said. “In basketball circles, I’m 6-9.”
Durant explains that he feels 6'9" is the proper size for his preferred position of small forward, despite having recently confessed in an interview that he is actually 6'11."
The article also dives into the other, more common version of “height adjustment,” like when undersized players like J.J. Barea suddenly rise to the six-foot mark in team programs.
