England may have lost to Iceland, but at least Steve McClaren is something of a prophet.

The former England manager was doing commentary on Sky Sports (which, since Sky doesn’t have broadcast rights, means people got to watch McClaren watch the match).

When Iceland scored an equalizer mere seconds after England took a 1–0 lead, McClaren wasn’t too worried. He praised England’s response to the goal and warned that they should keep an eye on Kolbeinn Sigthorsson. But then his voice trailed off. Why? You probably know why.

• Quiz: Sigur Rós song or Iceland national team member’s club team?

Yeah, that was Sigthorsson who scored what ended up being the game-winning goal. At least McClaren can use his powers of prognostication to bet on the rest of the tournament.
