Notable nuggets on the upcoming weekend action that could swing your fantasy baseball matchup:
• Kevin Gausman may have struggled in his first two starts in the majors, but he rebounded against a tough Tigers lineup his last time out, allowing one run on five hits in six innings while striking out four. The kid is here to stay and offers a higher ceiling than most starters you can find on the waiver wire. At the very least, he's a great streaming option who's widely available this weekend. Gausman takes the ball for the Orioles Saturday in Tampa. After struggling in the early part of the season, the Rays' offense has turned it on and is now sixth in the league with 286 runs scored through Wednesday. Still, Gausman's talent makes him a worthy stream option for those who need one this weekend.
• Erik Bedard is on a solid streak of decent outings, having allowed no more than two runs while going at least five innings in each of his last five starts. When you're looking for a streamable pitcher, sometimes you don't need anything better than decent. Bedard posted his best start of the year in his last outing, allowing just one run in seven innings in a win over the Angels. He'll start for Houston Saturday in Kansas City, taking the bump against a Royals team that has a .675 OPS this season, the fifth-worst mark in the league.
• Finally, Jon Niese made it through a bullpen session Wednesday unscathed after being scratched from his last scheduled start with shoulder discomfort. The best cure for an ailing shoulder is a date with the Miami Marlins, and that's exactly what Niese will get on Saturday. He has been a bit of a disappointment this year, but that shouldn't stop you from grabbing him for what should be a very favorable matchup. He's the best stream option of the weekend.
Enjoy the games this weekend. We'll see you on Monday.
