Fantasy football Player Projections -- Breaking down Week 14

Photo:

Tom Brady has thrown for 1,443 yards and tossed 10 touchdowns in his last four games.

Week 14 is upon us. For most fantasy owners, that means the playoffs have arrived.

Quite often, the playoffs are not about the stars, but the random players who pop up, give the fantasy community three strong weeks and are never heard from, at least in that way, again. Billy Volek and Drew Bennett did it in 2004. Samkon Gado did the next year. Last season, Knowshon Moreno swung a number of fantasy championships. This is a new season. It's not about who was the best over the previous 13 weeks. It's about who will be the best over the next three.

So will there be a Volek or Gado or Moreno this year? If so, will they kick it off this week? Find out in our Week 14 Projections.

Quarterbacks

    4. PASS YDS347
    5. PASS TD4
    6. INT0
    7. RUSH YDS0
    8. RUSH TD0

Brady is back. He threw for 371 yards and two touchdowns last week, and now has 1,023 yards and six scores in his last three games. Expect a big game from him this week.

    1. 2
    2. Peyton Manning
    3. Peyton
      Manning
      QB
    4. PASS YDS358
    5. PASS TD3
    6. INT0
    7. RUSH YDS0
    8. RUSH TD0

Manning's 403-yard, five-touchdown game represented the third time this season he threw for at least 400 yards and four touchdowns.

    1. 3
    2. Josh McCown
    3. Josh
      McCown
      QB
    4. PASS YDS347
    5. PASS TD3
    6. INT1
    7. RUSH YDS0
    8. RUSH TD0

McCown lit up the Vikings for 355 yards and two touchdowns last week. He's a strong QB1 option against a Dallas team allowing the most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.

Running Backs

    1. 1
    2. Jamaal Charles
    3. Jamaal
      Charles
      RB
    4. RUSH YDS131
    5. RUSH TD2
    6. REC YDS50
    7. REC TD0

Charles racked up 120 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown against the Broncos last week. Washington allows the seventh-most fantasy points per game to running backs this year.

    1. 2
    2. DeMarco Murray
    3. DeMarco
      Murray
      RB
    4. RUSH YDS134
    5. RUSH TD1
    6. REC YDS37
    7. REC TD1

The Bears would have trouble stopping just about any back who has ever played in the NFL at this point. Murray should be in for a huge game.

    1. 3
    2. LeSean McCoy
    3. LeSean
      McCoy
      RB
    4. RUSH YDS125
    5. RUSH TD2
    6. REC YDS26
    7. REC TD0

The Lions are tough against running backs, allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to the position, but McCoy is a strong play as always.

Wide Receivers

    1. 1
    2. Calvin Johnson
    3. Calvin
      Johnson
      WR
    4. REC YDS128
    5. REC TD2

For your sake, I hope you aren't playing the owner who has Johnson this week. The Eagles allow the most fantasy points per game to receivers.

    1. 2
    2. A.J. Green
    3. A.J.
      Green
      WR
    4. REC YDS114
    5. REC TD2

The Colts allow the eighth-most fantasy points per game to receivers. I wouldn't want to be playing against Green this week.

    1. 3
    2. Demaryius Thomas
    3. Demaryius
      Thomas
      WR
    4. REC YDS111
    5. REC TD2

Peyton Manning has a way of evening things out, but Thomas is likely to see a ton of Alterraun Verner on Sunday.

Defenses

    1. 1
    2. New England Patriots
    3. PTS ALLOWED17
    4. SACKS4
    5. INT3
    6. TD0

The Patriots have struggled against the run since losing Vince Wilfork, but the Browns don't present that sort of challenge. New England can be streamed with confidence this week.

    1. 2
    2. Arizona Cardinals
    3. PTS ALLOWED13
    4. SACKS5
    5. INT2
    6. TD0

The Cardinals did well, all things considered, in holding the Eagles to 24 points. They are a very strong play this week.

    1. 3
    2. Cincinnati Bengals
    3. PTS ALLOWED17
    4. SACKS4
    5. INT2
    6. TD0

The Bengals forced three turnovers and limited the Chargers to 10 points in San Diego last week. They should be universally started on Sunday.
