Tennessee QB Peterman out at least four weeks with hand injury

Heisman watch: Week 4
Sports Illustrated senior writer Andy Staples breaks down the top performers from Week 4 including Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon and Fresno State's Derek Carr and previews next week's big match-ups for Heisman hopefuls.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee quarterback Nate Peterman will miss at least four weeks after undergoing surgery on his right hand.

Volunteers coach Butch Jones announced Peterman's injury Monday. Peterman injured his hand in Saturday's 31-17 loss to No. 20 Florida. It was first collegiate start and he was 4 of 11 for 5 yards with two interceptions and one fumble before being replaced late in the first half by Justin Worley.

Jones says Peterman wasn't replaced because of the injury, but "as of right now, Justin Worley is our starter.'' Worley started Tennessee's first three games. Jones says he'd have a more definitive timetable for Peterman's return later this week.

Freshmen Riley Ferguson and Joshua Dobbs are listed as second-team quarterbacks on the depth chart for Saturday's game with South Alabama (2-1).
