Ponderosa (Parker, Colo.) senior linebacker Jon Major committed to Colorado last weekend over Oklahoma and Wisconsin. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder is rated as his state's No. 1 football recruit and the No. 20 overall recruit nationally by RISE.

Major has the potential to be an impact player on the next level thanks to combination of size, strength and speed. He also has an excellent feel for the game and might the most punishing tackler in the country.

He already has more than 100 tackles this year after racking up a combined 217 stops his sophomore and junior seasons.

This is the second consecutive year that Colorado head coach Dan Hawkins has received a commitment from the state's top recruit after offensive tackle Ryan Miller of Columbine (Littleton, Colo.) pledged to CU last year.
