Sports Illustrated's May High School Athlete of the Month, Madison Schulte, was recently presented with her award at her high school.
Former Major League Lacrosse MVP Mark Millon and the U.S. Marines were on hand at Seneca High School in New Jersey to give Schulte her honor.
Schulte plays girls' lacrosse at Seneca High, where she scored 59 goals and was named first team all-conference as a freshman. Now a senior, Schulte has returned to the sport she abruptly walked away from in sophomore year after being recruited and the pressure she put on herself became too much.
“I'm really excited to recognize Maddy Schulte,” said Millon. “I think what's really cool about her is just how she kind of understands the perspective of the game. One of the things I always did as an athlete was play the game for the fun and for the love of it. And that's something that she really stands for and I think that's why she stands out.”
