Big Cazanova wins feature at Del Mar

DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) Big Cazanova led all the way in winning the $83,130 feature by six lengths in track-record time at Del Mar on Thursday.

Ridden by Elvis Trujillo, Big Cazanova ran 1 1/8 miles on Polytrack in 1:48.85, bettering the old mark of 1:50.03 set last month by Friendly Banter. He paid $3, $2.40 and $2.10 as the 1-2 favorite.

It was the second track record for Argentina-bred Big Cazanova. On July 26, he ran one mile on Polytrack in 1:34.74, lowering the old mark of 1:34.86 set by Potesta on Sept. 2, 2012.

Patrioticandproud returned $6.40 and $3.60 at 11-1 odds, while Stoney Fleece was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.80 to show.

The victory, worth $48,000, increased Big Cazanova's career earnings to $264,692.

Trujillo rode another winner on the eight-race card, while Kent Desormeaux also had two winners.
