Doc Almon wins feature at snowy Aqueduct

NEW YORK (AP) Doc Almon rallied in the snow to edge Loki's Vengeance by a nose Sunday in the $69,000 allowance feature at Aqueduct.

Fifth along the rail for most of the race, Doc Almon and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. angled widest of all in the stretch and accelerated in the final 100 yards to secure the win. The time was 1:11.92 for six furlongs over the track rated fast.

It was the second straight victory for Doc Almon, claimed in his previous start for $25,000 by trainer Rudy Rodriguez. Overall, the 5-year-old gelding is 6 for 22.

Doc Almon paid $13, $6.30 and $3.60. Loki's Vengeance returned $6.70 and $4.60, and Green Gratto, the 2-1 favorite, paid $3.30 to show.
