Second City is first in muddy Aqueduct feature

NEW YORK (AP) Second City rallied to beat odds-on favorite Matt King Coal by 1 1/4 lengths in the mud Wednesday at Aqueduct.

The 7-year-old gelding trained by Jeremiah Englehart angled six-wide turning for home and outkicked the pack for his 11th win in 41 starts. Kendrick Carmouche was aboard as Second City improved to 4-1-1 in 10 races on wet tracks.

The time was 1:38.02 for the mile.

The 7-2 second choice, Second City paid $9.40, $3.20 and $2.40.

Matt King Coal returned $2.50 and $2.20 as the 4-5 choice. Dixie Runner paid $2.70 to show.
