Yorvit Torrealba is closing in on a one-year deal with the San Diego Padres that is believed to be worth less than $2 million, SI.com has confirmed.

Torrealba spent the past four seasons with the Rockies, mostly in a backup role, before supplanting Chris Iannetta as the starting catcher during last season. He finished 2009 batting .291 with 31 RBIs and batted .357 in Colorado's Division Series loss to the Phillies.
