The Oakland Athletics are giving veteran right-hander Chad Gaudin another shot, sources confirmed Sunday. Gaudin pitched for the Athletics in 2006 and 2007, and will return this season for $700,000.

Gaudin, 27, was released by the New York Yankees earlier in the spring after struggling in four starts. His preseason record was 0-3 with an 8.68 ERA. He had competed for the fifth starter's job, which was won by Phil Hughes.

In 2009, Gaudin made six starts for the Yankees after beginning the season with the San Diego Padres.

The right-hander has a career record of 34-35 with an ERA of 4.50 in seven seasons. He won 11 games for the Athletics in 2007.

The signing was first reported by Foxsports.com.
