A second opinion on Jacoby Ellsbury's injured rib revealed a more extensive injury and the Red Sox outfielder will need at least two more weeks of rest. Ellsbury went to see Dr. Lewis Yocum in California for that second opinion.

Ellsbury first injured his ribs on April 11 when he collided with teammate Adrian Beltre and landed on the disabled list. He was activated May 22 but went back on the DL on May 25. He will be eligible to come off the DL on Saturday.

Ellsbury has played in just nine games this season, batting .250 with two stolen bases.
