Mets COO Jeff Wilpon reached out to Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes and David Wright about the comments attributed to his father, Mets owner Fred Wilpon, in "The New Yorker."

"He thinks he's going to get Carl Crawford money," Fred Wilpon said of Reyes. "He's had everything wrong with him. He won't get it."

Of Beltran, he said, "We had some schmuck in New York who paid him based on that one series," Wilpon said, referring to himself. "He's 65 to 70 percent of what he was."

Wilpon called Wright, "a really good kid. A very good player," but also said, "not a superstar."
