Mets putting Reyes on disabled list

The Mets are putting star shortstop Jose Reyes on the disabled list.

Reyes, who was voted the starting shortstop for next week's All-Star Game, will instead head to the 15-day DL to deal with a hamstring injury that has kept him out of the past four games.

Reyes has been superb this season, leading the majors in batting average (.354), hits (124) and triples (15), while also topping the NL in runs (65) and ranking second in stolen bases (30). He can become a free-agent at season's end.
