Rays OF Myers out more than 6 weeks with bad wrist

MIAMI (AP) Tampa Bay Rays right fielder Wil Myers is expected to be sidelined for more than six weeks because of a stress fracture in his right wrist.

Myers will be in a cast for five to six weeks and then start rehabilitation, the Rays said Tuesday. Tests determined the extent of the injury after Myers was hurt last week and went on the disabled list.

''It's no fun,'' said Joe Maddon, manager of the last-place Rays. ''We're counting him a lot to provide power and RBIs and hit for a good average. There are a lot of different ways he can impact a game. Hopefully we'll get him back for the playoff run.''

Maddon said Myers' spot will be filled mostly by Ben Zobrist and Kevin Kiermaier.

Myers is batting .227 with five homers and 25 RBIs. He was hurt when he landed following a collision with teammate Desmond Jennings in the outfield.
