Nationals, Brewers add fresh arms to bullpen

MILWAUKEE (AP) The Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers both added fresh arms to their bullpens one day after the teams played a 16-inning marathon.

Washington called up right-hander Taylor Hill on Wednesday from Triple-A Syracuse, where he was 9-2 with a 1.92 ERA. Infielder Greg Dobbs, who was hitting .171, was designated for assignment.

Nationals manager Matt Williams also said the team could get catcher Wilson Ramos back for the start of a four-game series Thursday in Chicago against the Cubs. Ramos has been on the disabled list since June 11 with a strained right hamstring.

Outfielder Bryce Harper might return to the club around July 1. He is recovering from a sprained left thumb sustained in late April during a head-first slide.

Washington plans to move Harper's rehab stint to Double-A Harrisburg on Thursday.

The Nationals also reinstated utility player Jeff Kobernus from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Syracuse. Kobernus was recovering from a broken left hand.

The Brewers called up right-handed reliever Alfredo Figaro from Triple-A Nashville for a second stint this season with Milwaukee.

Right-hander Mike Fiers was sent down after pitching the last four innings and taking the loss in Milwaukee's 4-2 defeat Tuesday night to Washington.
