Dodgers place starter Josh Beckett on 15-day disabled list

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Josh Beckett has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left hip impingement, the team announced on Tuesday.

According to Jon Weisman of Dodger Insider, Beckett aggravated the hip, which had already been bothering him, while running the bases during Sunday's win over the Rockies. Beckett was then pulled after throwing five scoreless innings of three-hit ball.

Because of the All-Star break, which begins on July 14, Beckett might only miss one scheduled start, slated to take place this Saturday against the San Diego Padres. The team has not yet named a replacement starter.

Beckett is 6-5 with a 2.26 ERA in 2014, and opponents are hitting just .203 against him.

The Dodgers recalled pitcher Pedro Baez from Triple-A Albuquerque to replace Beckett on the roster. Baez has a 4.50 ERA in 16 innings pitched this season in Triple-A.
