Mets closer Jenrry Mejia said New York will make the playoffs, according to a New York Post report.
The Mets are third in the NL East at 46-50 heading into Saturday night's game in San Diego against the Padres.
Since moving into the bullpen in mid-May, the 24-year-old has a 2.25 ERA with 11 saves in 13 opportunities over 28 innings. New York finished the first half strong, going eight of 10 on a homestand but are still approximately seven games behind the first-place Braves.
Mejia said in the report that the team will make it because its players believe in themselves:
“We’re gonna make it because we believe in ourselves. We’ll be ready, and we’re gonna make the playoffs. We’re gonna be there.”
