CHICAGO (AP) Houston outfielder George Springer sat out the Astros' 11-7 win over the Chicago White Sox because of soreness in his right quad and knee.

The day off on Sunday was mostly precautionary, and Springer expects to play Tuesday when the Astros begin a three-game series at Oakland.

''It's just a little something,'' Springer said. ''I can play through it. I'll be all right.''

Astros manager Bo Porter said that Springer was available off the bench Sunday, but he wasn't needed. Springer will receive treatment the next two days.

The 24-year-old rookie hurt his knee earlier this month when he crashed into the wall making a catch against Texas.

Springer leads the Astros with 20 home runs, one short of Lance Berkman's team record for a rookie.
