MILWAUKEE (AP) Aramis Ramirez is playing his 2,000th major league game right back where it all started.

Ramirez made his debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 26, 1998, at old Milwaukee County Stadium at age 19. On Wednesday, the Brewers third baseman became the 14th active player to reach 2,000 games when he started at home against the Reds.

More than 16 years later, Ramirez has 366 career home runs and 1,322 RBIs. Not bad for someone who was 0 for 3 in his debut, a 3-2 loss to his current team.

Now 36, Ramirez was an All-Star this season, batting .284 with 12 home runs and 46 RBIs.

Ramirez was traded to the Chicago Cubs in 2003 and signed with Milwaukee as a free agent in 2011.

He says, ''I've been blessed with good health.''
