The Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in San Diego relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit, but if the Padres trade him they would prefer it not to be to an NL West division rival, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports

On Tuesday, it was reported that there is "still a good chance" the Padres trade Benoit ahead of Thursday's 4 p.m. trade deadline and that the Pirates and Indians are likely suitors for the 37-year-old.

Benoit is 4-2 with a 1.88 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 43 innings this season for San Diego.

The Dodgers have been linked to trade rumors of late, and are reportedly looking to moveMatt Kemp or Carl Crawford. On Monday, they acquired second baseman Darwin Barney from the Cubs
