Report: Dodgers interested in Padres reliever Joaquin Benoit
The Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in San Diego relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit, but if the Padres trade him they would prefer it not to be to an NL West division rival, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
On Tuesday, it was reported that there is "still a good chance" the Padres trade Benoit ahead of Thursday's 4 p.m. trade deadline and that the Pirates and Indians are likely suitors for the 37-year-old.
Benoit is 4-2 with a 1.88 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 43 innings this season for San Diego.
Los Angeles is in first place in the NL West with a 60-47 record, while San Diego sits 12.5 games behind them in third place.
Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci projects the teams that will be active at the trade deadline and players who may be on the move.
