Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera aggravates right ankle after home plate slide

Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera re-aggravated his right ankle after sliding into home plate during Wednesday’s 6-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

According to MLive.com, the injury is considered minor and he won’t miss any time for now because of it. 

Cabrera slid into home plate, scoring on a double to right field by designated hitter Victor Martinez in the first inning after reaching on an infield single.

Cabrera is the team’s designated hitter in Thursday’s game against Tampa Bay. The reigning two-time American League Most Valuable Player is batting .308 with 17 home runs and 87 RBI.
