The Oakland Athletics activated shortstop Jed Lowrie from the disabled list following his recovery from a broken right index finger, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports.
Lowrie, 30, has not played since Aug. 13, and he went on the disabled list a few days later. He broke his finger in early August and played through the injury before deciding to take time off to heal.
Lowrie is batting .238 with five home runs and 42 RBI this season for Oakland.
The Athletics finished August 12-17. They are 5.0 games behind the Los Angeles Angels for first place in the AL West. Oakland has a 4.0 game lead for the first Wild Card spot.
